Mobile Car Inspection Cambridgeshire
Buying a used car in Cambridgeshire? From the Vindis dealers on Washingley Road in Huntingdon and Thurlow Nunn in Wisbech to the Cambridge main dealers and the Peterborough supermarkets, we come to the car and inspect it before you commit: full diagnostics, a road test, a history check and a video report the same day.
Covering the whole county, from Cambridge to Wisbech, at one price with no mileage charge
Pre-purchase car inspections in Cambridgeshire
Cambridge has the Marshall row on Newmarket Road and Vindis on Milton Road and Babraham Road, covered on our Cambridge page, and Peterborough has Motorpoint, Big Motoring World and the Fengate and Boongate dealers, covered on our Peterborough page. In between, Huntingdon has Vindis Audi and Volkswagen at 1 and 4 Washingley Road, where the group has its head office, plus EMG Motor Group and The Car Edition at Stukeley Meadows. St Neots has GPR Cars on the A1 at Southoe. Ely has EMG Kia, Soham has Crown Garage, and Wisbech has Thurlow Nunn on Cromwell Road off the A47 and J S Holmes. March, Chatteris and St Ives have small forecourts and private sellers.
The county's trade stock runs through Peterborough: City Auction Group's indoor lanes at Orton Southgate, open since 2022, and Big Motoring World's Fengate supersite, which took all of its Peterborough stock in 2024. BCA Bedford serves the St Neots and Huntingdon trade. Those cars arrive on the forecourt with an auction grade or a supermarket check, not an inspection done for you, which is what ours is. Cambridgeshire has no Clean Air Zone and the Cambridge congestion charge was dropped in 2023, so there is nothing to pay to drive what you buy.
Huntingdon, Ely, St Neots, March or Wisbech, the price is the same as everywhere else we cover, with no mileage or call-out charge. Book online and tell us where the car is being sold. We arrange the time with the dealer or private seller, inspect it there, and the video, photos and written report are with you the same day.
Postcodes CB1 to CB7, CB21 to CB25, PE1 to PE8, PE13 to PE16, PE19 and PE26 to PE29.

What your mechanical report covers
An in-depth mechanical inspection brings the physical checks, diagnostic results and driving behaviour together. Your report explains the condition we found, the concerns and their significance for your purchase.
Engine & cooling system
Oil and coolant condition and levels, visible leaks, belts and hoses, engine mounts, timing-drive noise and engine performance under load where applicable.
Gearbox & drivetrain
Gearbox and clutch operation where fitted, gear changes, mounts, driveshafts and CV joints, with findings on unusual noise, vibration and driving behaviour.
Brakes, steering & suspension
Accessible pads, discs, calipers and brake lines; parking brake, steering, suspension components, dampers, joints and bushes; wheel and tyre condition.
Diagnostics & electrical systems
Full-system scan for available fault codes and warnings, plus 12V battery and charging checks. EV and hybrid inspections include relevant powertrain, charging and battery-management checks where supported.
Road-test findings
How the car accelerates, changes gear, brakes, steers and handles, including unusual noises and vibration. Premium includes an extended road test. Road tests depend on safety and permission.
Evidence, priorities & buying advice
Written findings, photos and a clear video review explain the issues observed and what needs attention. A personal call helps you understand the concerns and decide what to ask before buying.
Checks are adapted to the vehicle and accessible components. The report records any checks that could not be completed. Both packages also include bodywork, interior and vehicle history checks. Keep the video, photos and report as evidence of the issues observed at the time.

EV battery healthQuestions from Cambridgeshire buyers
Can you inspect a car at the Vindis dealers on Washingley Road in Huntingdon or at Thurlow Nunn on Cromwell Road in Wisbech while I am at work?
Yes. Ask the dealer to hold the car for an independent inspection and we arrange the time with the sales team. You get the video, photos and report the same day, so you can decide that evening without going back to the forecourt.
Can you inspect a car I am buying from a trader who bought it at City Auction Group?
Yes, once it is on the trader's premises or yours. The Premium inspection traces its auction history, and the paint readings and underbody check show repairs the paperwork does not.
Can you inspect at a farm or rural address with no hard standing, for example a pickup or van near Ramsey or Littleport?
Yes, as long as the vehicle can be parked somewhere reasonably level and firm for an hour or so, a concrete yard or a flat gravel area is fine, and a short road test is possible. Tell us the address and what the vehicle is when you book and we bring the right equipment.
Do you charge extra for Wisbech, March or the far north of the county?
No. The price is the same anywhere in Cambridgeshire, with no mileage or call-out charge: Standard £199.99, Premium £249.99, and the EV battery check £149.99.
Do I need to be there?
No. We can inspect the car directly with the seller or dealer and send you the video review, photos and report afterwards, then talk it through with you on the phone.
Will you tell me whether to buy the car?
We give you the findings, point out what matters and what it is likely to cost, and talk it through so you can make your own decision. We have no commission from the sale, so the advice is straight.
